No matter what I’ve ever done in my life I’ve operated under the idea of, “See the need, meet the need.” Regardless of my vocation I’ve been led to one conclusion; I love helping people. I experience great joy in helping someone achieve his or her goals.
I aspired to be a Certified Public Accountant in my undergraduate studies at Southwest Baptist University. I wanted to help people change their lives and so I graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration and went on to a seminary program in Branson, Missouri.
Upon graduating the Kanakuk Institute, I became the Hollister K-Life Director. I devoted my time to successfully developing and running a youth ministry program. After moving to Nashville I was finally able to combine my love for people with my love for numbers.
Since 2010, I’ve been meeting people and helping them analyze their whole financial picture and either assure them of what they already have or let them know of potential threats to their plan. That’s why I love being in the insurance industry, everyday I get to help!! My family has gone through the effects of not knowing how the insurance industry can help, and I take great pride in helping others not have similar experiences.
My wife, Mollye, supports me in so many ways I can’t even begin to list. She’s a blessing in my life that truly is a gift from God. I have little girl, Allye Ann, that I hope grows to reflect Christ through seeing Mollye’s & I marriage lived out daily. We live in the Nashville area and attend Community Bible Church. We both are transplants (like most Nashvillians), but we venture back to Kansas and Texas to see our families as often as we can.
Growing up in a family of insurance agents and executives didn’t initially make me want to embrace this career. Insurance struck me as impersonal and a ‘necessary evil’. So I headed as a far as in the opposite direction as possible. I knew I wanted to make a difference so for 10 years, I attempted to do that as a successful staff songwriter in Nashville. I had numerous songs recorded by major recording artists including Montgomery Gentry and even charted a top 10 record for Lila McCann.
As my career in the music business was winding down, my family came face to face with my grandmother’s stroke and subsequent lengthy stay in a nursing home. With all our knowledge and experience, we still weren’t prepared for what we were going through. Suddenly, insurance wasn’t just a concept, it was playing a key role in my family on a personal and financial life. It was making a difference.
My second career began in 2004 when dedicated myself to helping others be prepared for life’s ‘what ifs’ and avoiding the costly mistakes we made. I have worked in a number of capacities within the insurance industry: a Life and Health Specialist for State Farm, a Property and Casualty agent for Bearingstar Insurance, the Director of Training and Compliance for Cornerstone Senior Services and have managed and trained a team of successful agents to take care of people with the same goals and ethics to which I aspire.
I live with my two daughters in Franklin, Tennessee where I grew up. Recently, we added a suite to our home and welcomed their grandmother to live with us. In addition to spending time with my girls, I love to write, am a health-food foodie and teach yoga.
